Ernestina Pokuwaa Obeng, affectionately known as Ohemaa, was born on 30th March 1982 to Mr. Paul Kingsley Obeng and Mrs. Mary Yaa Obeng, both of whom survive her. From an early age, she exhibited warmth, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility that shaped her life and relationships.
She began her basic education at Nkawkaw Presbyterian School and later lived in Takoradi for two years with her great aunt, Nana Pokuwaa, the Queen Mother of Akyem Hemang. This period greatly influenced her character, instilling discipline, cultural values, and respect for tradition. Ernestina returned to Nkawkaw to complete her basic education at St. Cecilia School, and later proceeded to Kwahu Ridge Senior High School, where she was an active member of the school hockey team and was well loved by her teachers and peers.
In her personal life, Ernestina married Mr. Kofi Asante Simpeh, and they were blessed with a son, Kojo Ansong Simpeh, born in March 2003. In 2006, they migrated together to the United States.
She later married Mr. Kwaku Anokye, and their union was blessed with two children, Nana Yaw Anokye and Princess Anokyewaa. Her children were the center of her life, and she devoted herself fully to their upbringing. Tina’s life in the US was enriched by her dear friend Kenny. A constant presence and source of support who brought her joy and companionship to her journey.
In the United States, Ernestina worked diligently at Takumi in Cincinnati for eleven (11) years, and later at Pacific, a sister company, for eight (8) years, earning the respect of her colleagues through her dedication and hard work.
Ernestina was kind, loving, and ever cheerful. She had a warm smile, a generous heart, and was always ready to help others. A devoted and hardworking mother, all her sacrifices were centered on the well-being of her children.
Though she has departed this world, Ernestina’s legacy of love, resilience, and selflessness lives on through her children, family, and all who knew her.
May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
