Edna L. Swain was born July 30, 1945, in Warrenton, Georgia to the late William F. Swain and Ruthie M. Swain. The three settled in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1947. Edna was the eldest of five children: Eugene E. Swain, Charles A. Swain (Queen), Bernice Smith, and Patrcia A. Campbell.
Edna graduated from Central High School in June of 1963. After she started working at R.L. Polk Co. for 30 years, she prided herself on not missing a day of workup until her departure. She later worked at Walmart for the next five years, working her way up to the management position before retiring.
Edna enjoyed reading, planting, bowling, and diamond painting. She was a really great baker, who loved to bake for her family.
Edna loved going to church and was baptized at an early age. She joined First New Shiloh Baptist Church with her family under the leadership of Pastor M.J. Mangrum. Edna loved singing and was a member of the Pastor Choir and Greater Cincinnati Choral Union. She joined the nurse guild under the leadership of Pastor Michael K. Cash.
Edna moved her membership to New Jerusalem Baptist Church, serving as a nursing guild, teaching Sunday School, and working with the youth, under the leadership of Pastor Damon Lynch Jr. until her health failed.
Edna leaves to mourn: her sister, Patricia Campbell; sister-in-law, Queen Swain; nieces and caregivers, Crystal N. Swain, Wyniya M. Swain-Sanders, and Camaiyah M. Swain; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and two very special friends, Lois Kernall and Arthur Davis.
