Dorothy Jean Holder affectionately known as “Dot” to family and friends was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Robert Nowlin and Lottie Brown Roberts.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mack Holder Jr. on November 22, 1947. This union was blessed with three children.
She accepted Christ at an early age and attended New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. She was a faithful and loyal member and served in numerous roles throughout the years; Secretary, Choir Member, Mother of the Church just to name a few.
Dorothy was a caring and giving person who impacted every life she touched. She was a dutiful wife, daughter and niece, caring for her husband mother and aunt until they preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother, family member and friend whose love knew no bounds. A pillar of strength and wisdom, always there to guide her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her gentle loving spirit and nurturing nature will forever remain in our hearts. A beacon of light who always knew how to make things brighter and better. She was a very creative person, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and making ceramics. If you knew her more than likely you have something she made throughout the years. She loved to bake and each of us had our own favorite baked dish. One thing she did not love to share was her Hershey Chocolate bars, just ask her grandchildren (lol).
She leaves to mourn three children, Kennth Benard (Rosemary), Dennis (Bernadette), Wray Jean Woodley of Miami, Florida; her grandchildren, Marc, Michael, Keisha, Anthony, Jason, Kenny, Erin, Monique, Cierra; and a host of great grandchildren, (she had a special loving relationship with Journie in her later years), great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
