Donna Mae Johnson was born on October 26, 1920 to the union of Curly and Lily Mae Fairbanks. With church being an important part of her upbringing, she accepted Christ at a young age. Donna was a member at Tryed Stone since 1982 when she joined under the leadership of Dr. Anderson Culbreth. Donna Mae was active in the Keenagers Ministry, Ruth Circle Missionary, Usher Board and Nurses Guild. She taught bible study at Active Day and Easter Seals. Donna Mae always had a smile on her face and spoke about the goodness of the Lord until she departed this earth. She knew God kept her and she never complained. Her favorite song was “Lord Prepare Me to Be a Sanctuary”.
Donna passed peacefully from this life and entered eternal rest on May 3, 2016 after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during her last days.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Emery Johnson; daughters Norma Jean Pickett and Betty Johnson; sons James Johnson and John Johnson; brothers Williebe, Robert, Douglass, Sylvester, Eugene, and Clarence Fairbanks; and sister Patricia Fairbanks.
Donna leaves not to mourn but cherish her precious memories, brothers Curtis Fairbanks (Lula), Raymond Fairbanks (Joyce), and Freddie Fairbanks; sister Elzata Fairbanks, children Calvin Johnson Sr., Barbara Flowers, Donald (Margo), Loretta Paige, Kenny Johnson, Carol Johnson, and Michael Johnson (Vanessa), Seventy-eight grandchildren, Seventy great grandchildren, Twenty-five great, great grandchildren, and six great, great, great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
