Carrie Mae Ooten was born on September 21, 1931, in Jackson, Georgia to the late Duffie and Clifford Maddox. She went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ooten, her parents Duffie and Clifford Maddox. She was the tenth child born to her parents.
She accepted Christ at an early age at the Stark Baptist Church in Jackson, Georgia She also loved music and sang in the choir.
She moved to Cincinnati Ohio and enjoyed a professional career at Bethesda Hospital where she worked as a dietitian for over 25 years.
As a young woman she met the love of her life, Robert Ooten from Cincinnati, Ohio. Their courtship led to a marriage of love, faith and commitment that spanned over 70 years. From this union of love, and devotion, three children were born: Cynthia Ooten Booth, Stanley Ooten, and Michelle Ooten Bell.
She joined Greater New Hope when she arrived in Cincinnati, Ohio. Later she joined New St. Paul Baptist Church where all three of her children were baptized. After serving at New St. Paul Baptist Church, she and her husband joined Olivet Baptist Church where Dr. L. Venchael Booth was the pastor. In 2016, she and her husband united with Greater New Hope until they joined Legacy Pointe Church, where their grandson, the Rev. Dr. Paul Booth Jr. is the Senior Pastor, until God called her from labor to reward.
She can be best described as a woman of God who loved her church, a great and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for her family was insurmountable.
She leaves to cherish her legacy her children: Cynthia Ooten Booth (Paul Booth Sr.) Stanley Ooten and Michelle Ooten Bell (Cornelius Bell); her grandchildren Rev. Dr. Paul Booth Jr. (Jarvis), Martin Booth, Stanley Blake Ooten, Britney Gordon (Sean Gordon), and Celiya Andrews; and her great-grandchildren, Laila Booth, Miles Ooten, Sean Gordon, A’Myllion Gordon, Nia Marie Gordon and a host of other family and friends.
