To Alex (and the Harper Family): I am deeply saddened to hear about the recent loss of your father Pastor Harper. My sincerest condolences to you and your family. May God continue to embrace you, uphold you, carry you, comfort and keep you and your family during this time. During our Tuskegee days, I knew how much you loved your dad and held him in such high esteem any time we spoke about our fathers being pastors and as fellow preacher/pastor kids :). While I never met your father, I felt like I knew him through you. Alex please know that you and your entire family are in my prayers. We know that God promised never to leave us nor forsake us and in times like this, Christ is right there in the midst ready to wipe every tear and to carry you and your family throughout this period of mourning. Remain encouraged that in God's time you will see him again. Praying for your family's strength, comfort and peace during this time but also, in due time, for an ongoing flow of joy and laughter in treasuring Pastor Harper's memory each and every day. Your friend and Sister in Christ - Phyllis Osby

Pastor Harper was a very respectful, God fearing Man. Who had a love for people. He was a joy to fellowship with throughout the years. I will always remember him as a man full of wisdom. Everywhere I would see Pastor Harper he would have a smile on his face. Pastor Harper loved and ardored his family. I will never forget the Pastoal Anniversary when New St. John fellowshiped with Morning Star, and the Church purchased him a new car for his Anniversary. He did not want to depart with that car, he called his buggy. Pastor Harper friendship and love will always be remembered. Let's Remember the Good times! He was a Great Man. Sincerely, Sis Darlene Faulk, Lee

IT WAS AN HONOR TO KNOW PASTOR CALVIN HARPER. HIS COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF AFRICAN AMERICANS AT PROCTER & GAMBLE IS UNMATCHED. THERE ARE MINORITIES WALKING THE HALLS THERE TODAY BECAUSE OF THE GROUND WORK AND PATH LAID BY HIM. I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE BEEN ONE OF THOSE WHO BENEFITED FROM HIS HARD WORK IN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AT PROCTER & GAMBLE. ELLEN J. MILLER
Catherine McDaniel-Houston left a message on March 31, 2017:
Catherine McDaniel-Houston, Sister Mary, children. the Morning Star Church family, and friends, when you began to feel sad, read these words of comfort. "“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” ( Revelation 14:13) "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. Look forward with joy to meeting your husband, father, pastor, and friend someday in that CITY BUILT FOUR SQUARE, which the Lord has prepared for those who live for HIM. Pastor Calvin Harper had the assurance that the apostle Paul had in 2 Timothy 2:6-9 when facing his own imminent death, when he said, “For I am now ready …, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Rev. Dr. Calvin Harper was one of the founders and original trustees for the Robert A. Taft High School Alumni Association, along with Mr. Herman Turner and Mr. Fred Hill. He was always the exceptional people in my life from junior high through now. As God has given us "The One in a Trillion" Man - Mary matched his love they had and may God continue to bless you and the kids. Duncan Hines products and Pringles lead the way in product stability and taste due to Calvin's Research efforts. He was Mr. P & G, in my eyes! Mary, classmate and friend, continue to hold on to God's Unchanging Hand. I offer support and love from my church, Brown Chapel AME Church. Pat Johnson Baker, Robert A. Taft, '59.
