Remembering a Life Well Lived
Gwendolyn Beatrice Hawk, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Huntington, WV, on July 16, 1949, Gwendolyn attended St Peter Claver school before moving to Cincinnati, OH with her family. There, Gwendolyn attended Our Lady of Angels High School, graduating in 1967.
Gwendolyn Beatrice Hawk earned a Master of Arts (MA) from Xavier University in 1992.
Gwendolyn was a devoted mother to her three children, Tracey Harris, Juliette Fudia Brima and Junisa Brima, a doting grandmother to four grandchildren, Britney Heath, Danielle Jackson, Aminatta Brima and Thomas Brima, and two great grandchildren Gabrielle Jackson and Giselle Jackson. She is also remembered by her sister Linda Lynch, nephews Marlon Easley and Torino Gudger, nieces April Hawk and Carla Lynch and many beloved cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William McKinley Hawk and Wilhelmina Gudger (Jack) and her brother William McKinley Hawk Jr.
She found joy in gardening, sewing and music. She was an avid reader and loved learning. Those who knew Gwendolyn will remember her kindness, generosity and her unwavering commitment to her family and her constant pursuit of education.
Gwendolyn will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in all those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Gwendolyn’s life will be held on February 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Center for Spiritual Living, followed by a reception.
