Rose Marie Marshall was born in Cincinnati Ohio on July 27, 1948, and was the second of three children from the marriage of the late James Marshall, Sr. and the late Georgia Marshall (McGee). She was called “Rose” by most people who knew her later in life, but was always “Marie” to family and to those who had known her the longest.
Marie was an attentive and excellent student, always on the Honor Roll from her time at Douglas Elementary School to her days at Samuel Ach Junior High School and finally at Withrow High School. She attended Ohio University, before returning home to be closer to family and friends, where she landed a position at Duke Energy (formerly CG&E) where she would remain for more than 35 years until she retired.
She was a kind-hearted, giving and loving person, filled with compassion for and concern about the needs of those who suffered. And those feelings were demonstrated in every aspect of her private as well as her personal life. But along with love, she placed loyalty among her most important values. Loyalty to family, friends, work and above all to Jesus Christ–for whom she had the greatest love and loyalty.
But she had her earthly pleasures, too. She totally enjoyed her “soap operas”, and spent countless hours consuming them (especially General Hospital), often only pulled away by her attraction to QVC and the Home Shopping Network.
Marie was married twice, and her second marriage to James H. Trammell rewarded them with a son, Jimi, in 1974.
Marie is survived by her son, Jimi, a sister Ella Belser (Marshall), a brother (James Marshall, Jr.), a granddaughter Monica Alexis Proffitt and two great granddaughters, Alaya (10) and Amira (3), plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
