Mary Charline Mundy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and cherished friend, was born on October 5, 1939, in Adair County, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Shirley Grace Jackson. As a teenager, Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Her unwavering faith became the foundation upon which she lived her life.
Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Norman E. Mundy, Sr., on April 30, 1960. Together, they shared 40 blessed years of marriage and built a loving family that was richly blessed with seven children: Norman E. Mundy, Jr. (Gina), Anthony M. Mundy, Sr. (Dawn), Jeffery M. Mundy, Sr. (Monique), Eric W. Mundy (Sonia), Lisa A. Mundy, Jayne N. Taylor (Kevin), and Kimberly R. Walls (Delvin).
She was also the proud grandmother of nineteen grandchildren—Norman Jr., Jessica, Erika, Anthony Jr., Alexander, LaKeisha, Alexis, Jeffery Jr., Jaymar, Jalen, Ellington Jr., Christopher, Elijah, Isaiah, Anaiah, Oliviah, Cahlil, Kylin, and Brielle—and the loving great-grandmother of thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mary Charline Mundy, age 86, of Cincinnati, Ohio, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Norman E. Mundy, Sr. (2000); her beloved daughter, Jayne N. Taylor (2016), at the age of 39; and her brother, Samuel Jackson (1999).
A 1959 graduate of Hughes High School, Mary was involved in Iota Sigma Chi sorority as well as other school social activities. In her work life, Mary dedicated over 30 years of faithful service to Providence Hospital, where her compassion, kindness, and gentle spirit touched countless lives. She truly never met a stranger—every person she encountered was greeted with warmth, dignity, and genuine care. Mary found her greatest joy in spoiling her grandchildren, pouring into them the same unconditional love she extended to all. If someone was in need, she did her very best to provide, often placing the needs of others before her own. Mary was the living embodiment of humility, grace, love, and selfless sacrifice—an earthly angel whose presence brought comfort and peace.
Our mother loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind. She faithfully read and studied the Holy Bible daily and was truly a devoted student of God’s Word. Her life reflected unwavering faith, quiet strength, and unconditional love. We rejoice in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the presence of her Heavenly Father.
Mary’s life will be celebrated with gratitude and thanksgiving for the joy, love, laughter, sweet personality, kind heart, godly character, and virtuous spirit she so freely shared with all who were blessed to know her.
