Lisa M. Wolfe left a message on March 11, 2026:
I am sorry to be learning about Dr. Brown's death so late. I wanted to say that I have used his book "What They Don't Tell You: A Survivor's Guide to Biblical Studies" for about 20 years in my seminary and undergraduate classes. My students, after graduating, reported that it was the most important book they read in their degree program. I am grateful for the depth of his wisdom and his ability to communicate difficult concepts in understandable ways. I wish I had known him personally. Many condolences to his family and friends.

Bishop and Mrs. Adam J. Richardson left a message on December 27, 2025:
The Rev. Michael Joseph Brown, PhD crammed a lot of living into his relatively short number of years. He possessed a gifted mind, a shepherd’s heart and a genuine commitment to the faith he preached, taught and lived. During our tenure as bishop and Supervisor of the 11th District, we invited him to the campus of Edward Waters University to headline the AME Founder’s Day. Without pretense, his brilliance, humility and sincerity inspired us all. For a life well-lived, for his contributions to the Kingdom, we give glory to God in Christ.
