Lee Anthony Moore was born on July 15, 1954 in Cincinnati, OH., the ninth of ten children born to Melvin Moore and Louvenia Moore (nee Lewis). Living in the West End section of Cincinnati and later Findlater Gardens, Lee was raised with the loving guidance of his parents and many older siblings.
Lee graduated from Courter Tech High School in 1972. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Valentine on November 24, 1973. Their union was blessed with three children. Sons Marcus, and Stephen, along with their daughter Erika. Lee accepted Christ early in his life culminating in his baptism at the President Drive Church of Christ in 1979, guiding the Christian values he instilled in his children.
Lee worked for years in construction as an ironworker. In 1989 he went to work for what was at the time the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company, later to become Duke Energy as a lineman until his retirement in 2016. Lee was an avid sports fan. He followed the Bengals, Reds, and the Ohio State Buckeyes football teams closely, including spending years as a Bengals season ticket holder. He competed in several bowling and softball leagues. He also loved coaching youth sports teams starting with the St. Leo church’s girls’ softball team, as well as founding and coaching the North Fairmount Panthers youth baseball team for several years, providing a positive influence for a number of children in his community who as adults still speak fondly about him to this day.
Lee was an avid reader with a keen intellect and enjoyed jazz and soul music to relax with Najee, Anita Baker, and Sade being among his favorites.
Lee was preceded in death by his father Melvin Moore, mother Louvenia Moore, sister Betty Fields, sister Lois Whittle, brother Jimmie Moore, sister Aretha Moore, niece Pamela Whittle, and nephew Fredrick Whittle.
His legacy will be carried on by his wife Patricia Moore; his children Marcus Moore (Sharona), Stephen Moore (Lavonda), and Erika Harris (Terrance); his grandchildren Ke’Ajea, Moore, Shyla Dyer (Shawn), Kierra Moore, Stephen Moore Jr., Martell Moore, Kailynn Woods, Demario Williams, Lavontae Moore, David Shaun Payne II, Elijah Moore, and Jeremiah Harris; his great grandchildren Davonte McQueen Jr., Lavonte Moore Jr., Halayah Williams, JaVez Moore, and Dakari Moore. He is also survived by his sisters Melvina Turnage, Susan Moore, Vernell Moore, Connie Robinson (Clyde), and brother Frank Moore (Linda) along with a host of relatives, and friends.
