HELEN L. WILLIAMS was born July 23, 1928 in Glendale, Ohio to Lyda Robinson Williams and Clarence Williams. She died December 26, 2012. She was born and raised in the community of Glendale, Ohio in a household with her parents and six siblings: Joseph R. “Sac” Williams who met and married Connie, Clarence “CM” Williams, Jr. who met and mar-ried Janice then Lula, John “Ed” Williams who married Lyda, Grace Williams who met and married “Gene” Cornett, Evelyn Williams who met and married Walter “W.O.” Johnson and Hazel Williams who married “Jimmy” Williams, all of whom preceded her in death.
Helen L. Williams “Mama” met and married George E. Willi-ams, Jr., in Holy Matrimony. (Something about that Williams name! See Hazel above). During this 16 year union, three children were born: two sons, Michael and Steven B., and one daughter, Beverly Y. (Williams) Spellers.
In 1969, Helen was proud to welcome her first grandson, Xavier S. Williams, whom she loved and adored. (Xavier left this world tragically in May, 2001). Helen was blessed to have nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Helen had a happy career at WKRC in Cincinnati until 1972. She struggled to cope with rheumatoid arthritis which eventually left her confined to a wheelchair, but not unable to be present at many happy occasions like Michael’s football games as a teenager, Steve’s gatherings at Westin Hotel in past December, or family reunions.
In 1983, she left Lincoln Heights and moved to Westwood where she helped raise Bev’s kids while they helped her. Later, Mom moved to College Hill. She loved to listen to audio books, paint ceramics, and she was seldom without good music on the radio or stereo; Temptations, Luther, Whitney to name a few. Helen had a way about her, which made every-one who met her feel at ease. When she parted with a close friend, they often told her to “take it easy”, which led to many family calling her “Aunt Ease” (actually short for Louise).
Helen leaves to cherish her memory: her three children and nine grandchildren – son, Mike Williams (Ivana) and his family, Anthony Willis, Malik, Jared (Lauren) and Joseph; son, Steven B. Williams, his best friend, Jessica and his children, Terry Hobbs, Kelly and Steven Blake Williams; and daughter, Beverly and her family, Yvette M. Williams and Nakia C. Manning (Curtis); 10 great-grandchildren, Jeanette Peart, Javon Willis, Alexis, Demarius, Jayelen Williams, Eboni and Tashawn X. Manning, Landon, Logan and Jayden Williams; a host of loving nieces, like Kimberly, nephews, and friends like Sarah who was regularly at her beside. Ease was the youngest member of the original William’s Legacy. At 84 years of age, she will be greatly missed by the many, but like the others, never, ever forgotten.
