Mrs. Rhoda Bryant, better known to me as, Mrs. Baker back in the day with all due respect. Mrs. Baker was a wonderful mother and friend. Of course, her son Bruce and I grew up together and hung out as very good friends. Mrs. Baker treated me as though I was family and one of her own. Always giving her love and attention, and she could cook up the best pot of chili ever known to man, woman, and chef. My fondness memories of Mrs. Baker include the times we when all went fishing together. She would be SO excited about going fishing, the excitement would transcend into her children and me. I remember one day, Mrs. Baker was sitting on the shore at Smith Pond with about four to five fishing poles with lines in the water waiting for a big bass or catfish to hit. She would work those fishing poles like playing the xylophone.... back and forth, loosening or tightening the lines, while teasing the fish to take a bite. Suddenly, BAM, bam, BAM, three good bites at the same time! She yelled, YES! and snatched those poles in a calculated sequence to set the hook in each fish, and then began reeling them in. She would drop one of the poles and grab the other and flip the fish onto the shore with the pole and all, and then grab the other pole and continue reeling it in. It was a sight to see, ...masterful, and it happened so fast, we could not get over there to help her.... but she didn't need any help. Mrs. Baker was a great fisherman, and a very generous woman. I learned a lot from her during those Good Ol' Days! Rest in peace, Mrs. Baker. Kevin C. Hart
