Lionel Hardin was born on August 28, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Charles Carter and the late Johnnie Mae Hardin-Wise. Lionel departed this life on June 15, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Lionel attended and graduated from Aiken High School. After high school, his first job was working for the City of Cincinnati. He later went into a different field of work when he became a baker at American Bakery which is more commonly known as Butternut Bakery. Lionel was a dedicated worker and was well-liked by his fellow employees. He was known by family and friends for the phrase, “Dig That” which he remarked when ending conver-sations. In his spare time, he paid close attention to his bird cages, as he was a lover of birds. Lionel was very fashionable and very dedicated to his only child, Stephen Gordon. His legacy will live on through his son and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Keith and his mother, Johnnie Mae. There were 10 children that were raised by the late Leroy Wise, which included step sisters and brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory: son, Stephen L. Gordon, fondly known as “Man”; Carleen Gordon, special companion and mother of his son; three grandchildren, Julian, Rhyan and Stephen Jr.; five sisters, Sunnella (Richard), Verlinda, Vernita, Lenora (Franklin) and Velita; three brothers, Larry, Darnell and Stephen; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great uncles and many other relatives and friends.
