Ms. Helen Marie Oglesby was born July 7, 1927 in
Richmond, Kentucky to the late William and Jeanette
Oglesby. She was the oldest of four children, Willa,
Margaret and Vertie Oglesby.
Ms. Helen attended school up to the eighth grade.
Although Ms. Helen did not pursue additional education,
she did encourage her children, grandchildren and others
that education was a key to success.
Ms. Helen was a Breast Cancer survivor of over 30
years. She enjoyed shopping for shoes and clothes. Ms.
Helen valued her time spent with her family and friends.
Ms. Helen was a member of New Mission Missionary
Baptist Church for many years under the direction of the
late Rev. Cleveland Brown. Ms. Helen later joined Christ
Temple Baptist Church under the direction of Rev.
Peterson Mingo.
Ms. Helen leaves to cherish: nine children, Charles
(Lynda), Barbara, Clarence (Trudy), Charlean, Gary
(Ann), Edward (Gina-deceased), Karen, Charmaretta and
Sandra; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren;
three siblings, Willa Wright, Margaret Jones and Vertie
Oglesby; and a host of other relatives and friends.
