Lorraine Mackey Davis was born on August 12, 1941 to the late William and Mouderail Mackey. She departed this life on August 5, 2014. She was the eighth of 11 children; nine of them preceded her in death.
Lorraine, affectionately known as Cookie, accepted Christ at a young age at Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roy Vincent. She received her early education in the Lincoln Heights School System.
She was the proud mother of two, LaDon and Carmen. She married Claude Green and they relocated to San Diego, California. Years after Claude’s death, she met and married Clancy Davis. She always said that Clancy was truly her soulmate. After Clancy’s death, she moved to Lexington, Kentucky to be near her brother and son.
Cookie had a small frame, but a big personality. She met no strangers. She could always make you laugh, but she would get with you if she had to. She had a big heart and was very loyal. She was always into fashion, definitely a sharp dresser. She had numerous jobs over her lifetime, but she achieved one of her lifelong dreams of owning a boutique with her best friend, Beatrice Beamon. They started their business and named it Sistah’s
She leaves to cherish her memory: two children, LaDon Mackey and Carmen Mackey; six grandchildren, Cameron Mackey, Bobbie Mackey-Pollard, Johnique Mackey Pollard, Alexis Burnam, Dawnette Mackey and LaDon Powell; sister, Geneva Caldwell; sister-in-law, Scarlet “Dee” Mackey; BFF, Beatrice Beamon; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
