Marie Anita Hardin Baity was born on April 30, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is the eighth child of The Reverend Melvin and Anna Sawyer Hardin. She was educated at St. Ann Catholic School, Stowe School, and Hughes High School. At an early age, she exhibited a love for the Lord and righteous living. Marie taught herself how to play the piano and she sang beautifully at church services. She loved classical music and opera almost as much as hymns, gospel, and songs of praise.
Her quiet peaceful manner endeared her to the people she cared for throughout her life of caring for the young and the elderly. Her generosity extended to all she knew. She related to people in a gentle, reassuring voice and cheerfully shared whatever she had with those in need. She was married, and although she had no children of her own, she deeply loved and cared for many children. She was truly a witness for the Lord and believed that through the grace of the Lord, Jesus Christ, we shall be saved.
Widowed too soon, Marie devoted her energies to the Senior Meals Program at Park Eden Recreation Center. In her later years, she resided at Terrace View Gardens Nursing Home. There, she continued her commitment to serving others by assisting some of the residents in small ways for as long as she was able. Marie enjoyed participating in the activities and liked playing bingo for snacks. She joined in sing-alongs, physical activities and on Thursdays, she looked forward to welcoming “Trixie” the visiting canine. Her favorite time was spent in worship on Sundays in the Chapel at Terrace View.
Marie was loved and cherished by her family and will be missed. She will always live in our memories.
She is survived by her two sisters Gaundzale Hardin Dixon and Fannie Hardin Mallory. She also leaves to mourn nephews and nieces, Wilbur Anderson, Beverley Collins, Rene Hardin, Reginald Hardin, Angela McCard, Leslie Mallory, Dwane Mallory, William Mallory Jr., Dale Mallory, Joe Mallory, Mark Mallory, and a host of other loving relatives.
