Yvonne Ruth Cook was born on February 4, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mattie Young and Kenneth Taylor. She was the next to youngest of five. Her siblings: two brothers, James Young and John Peoples, and two sisters, Audrey Carr and Ernestine Jarrell, who all preceded her in death.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Leronn Cook.
Yvonne attended Woodward High School. She married Charles Franklin Cook, who preceded her in death. She later married Charles McGrady, who also preceded her in death.
Yvonne accepted Christ as her Savior and loved God with all her heart. She loved her church and had a favorite seat in the back row. It has been said that she had a way of making everyone feel welcome in her presence. She was warm, kind, giving, and a pillar of strength.
Yvonne enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She was a great cook and loved preparing meals for her family. She also enjoyed barbecues and picnics, participating in school and sports activities with her family, and spending time with loved ones. Some of her favorite pastimes included playing bingo, going to yard sales, thrift shopping, and traveling. Above all, her greatest joy was having a house full of family.
She was affectionately known as Mom, Sister, Grandma, Memaw, Grand Lady, Na Na, Aunt, and Friend.
Yvonne leaves to rejoice in her memory her children: Althea Holt (Christopher Holt, preceded in death), Charles Cook, Allie Cook, Terry Cook (Kim), Yvonne Cook, Yvette Cook, Andre Cook, Charlotte Cook, Lawrence Cook (Mitzi), and Tisha Wilkins (Dwayne, preceded in death); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many dear family members and friends.
Yvonne will be deeply missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
