Wiona Cleo Smith

Wiona Smith, daughter of Jessie and Clark Gibson, was one of three girls, Zaitor, Wiona (deceased) and Himinna (deceased) born in Lexington, Kentucky and one boy, Clark born in Ohio and many grandchildren. Wiona passed to a better place on July 21, 2020 at age 87.

Wiona married Carl Franklin Smith while he was in the Air Force. Later they divorced, however developed a very precious and deep friendship. During their marriage, they had three sons, Carl Cecil (deceased), Troy (deceased) and Mark and one daughter, Carol.

Wiona leaves behind one daughter, Carol; one son, Mark; her friend, Carl; one sister, Zaitor; one brother, Clark; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with their children.

Wiona attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1986 with a teaching degree. She had a gift with working with pre-school children and tutored several children in grades 1-6 in Springfield Township Public Schools. She retired approximately 10 years ago.

Wiona joined Saint Mark A.M.E. Church in 2012. She really enjoyed attending church services close to home and appreciated all their expressed concerns when she was no longer able to attend service due to her health problems.
