Wesley Blalock was born on May 5, 1940 in Fayetteville, Georgia to the late Frank and Roxie A. Blalock. He is the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cora Lee Star.
Wesley confessed Christ at a very young age at Edgefield Baptist Church, where he was baptized. After graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he met his lovely wife and soul mate for life, Dorothy Brazzell. They married August 15, 1964 and remained faithful and happy until the end. They were so unified that they both shared the same dates, her birth and his death. Their marriage of 47 years exemplified the marriage of Christ to the church. They shared the life which was promised by God.
Through their union, they had two children: Wesley Blalock, Jr. and Erica Lynn Brazile. He was a faithful father, provider and friend. He illustrated a “good godly man” to his family and friends. He enjoyed his wife, children and grand-children with whom he traveled with frequently.
He joined First Antioch Baptist Church in 1961, under the pastorate of Rev. Francis Lesley, where he served as an Usher, a Deacon, and on both Boards. He was a faithful member, and will be greatly missed by the church.
He worked as an Insurance Agent for Western Southern Life Insurance Company for over 15 years. He then worked with Cincinnati Metro Bus Company, as a Driver for over 20 years, where he retired. He gained many friends through his employment and remained connected, meeting monthly for breakfast. He was known as a man of wisdom and would lend an ear, giving sound counsel to anyone. He was never a stranger.
Wesley was meek and peaceful to everyone he knew. He was a conversationalist and very knowledgeable about every topic you would discuss. He was a mighty man of valor and will be missed and loved by many. Wesley loved like the I Corinthian 13 message.
He leaves to cherish: his lovely wife, Dorothy Blalock; his son, Wesley Blalock, Jr.; his daughter, Erica Lynn Brazile (Tony); one brother, Ira Frank Blalock, Jr. (Charlie Mae); one sister, Ruby Blalock; three granddaughters, Kamille Killings, Kayla and Briana Brazile; one grandson, Bryan Mallory; four great-grandchildren; nieces, the late Linda Starr, Marinetta Rosser, Sharolyn Clarke (Clinton); and a host of relatives and friends.
