On November 22 1953, as everyone was preparing to
celebrate Thanksgiving, Mary Lee Johnson was bringing
Wala Ameenah Hasan to the world.
As we celebrate her passing, we remember her life and
the joy she brought to anyone she met. She was a devout
Muslim, a volunteer, an educator, a Cosmetologist, a wife,
a mother, a daughter, a sister and a best friend. And she
still never met a stranger. Her smile and hugs and famous
quotes will be missed by many.
She showed by example that hard work, good work
ethics and honesty truly pays. These values shine through
the family and friends she’s left behind. She loved her
family and her happiest times is when all her children
were around her. She will be truly missed by her 6
children, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and her
6 brothers and 3 sisters and her 2 brothers who preceded
her in death.
As she continues on her journey, let’s remember her
smile, her laughter, her forgiving nature and her example
on how to live life.
