Virgila Armstrong was born on March 25, 1948, to the late Richard Dean II and Dorothy Stripling-Dean. She was raised most of her life by her Uncle Dallas Dean and his wife Mattie Lee Chambers–Dean, so throughout her life she called Dallas her dad, and that’s how people related him to her.
Virgila graduated from Withrow High School and worked most of her adult life as a Home Health Aide in the Healthcare industry. Virgila gave her life to Christ at an early age, worshiping at a Baptist Church. She even sang in a Gospel band with family members called the Chambers Family. In her later years, she started studying with the Jehovah’s Witness but never fully converted.
At the early age of 17, then Virgila Dean married Gregory Kirk, and through this union, she had their only child, Gregory Pierre Kirk Jr. Gregory Jr. was born with health issues and spent most of his life in a medical facility, where he died at age 13. The medical problems of Gregory Jr. put a strain on their marriage, causing it to end in only a few years. Later Virgila had three more kids, two daughters and a son.
In 1983, Virgila remarried to Quintin Armstrong.
She is preceded in death by her sister Arnetta Chambers-Harris (Chick) and brother Richard Dean III (Ricky).
