Thomas J. Moninger was born on October 12, 1953, to Walter and Hellen Moninger. The youngest of three children, he grew up alongside his siblings, Daniel and Kathy. Thomas spent his early years in faith and education at Saint Saviour’s Catholic School.
At the age of 18, Thomas proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country for 22 years. In 1973, he married the love of his life, Vallie Ruth Blossom. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising three children: Nicholas (Crystal) Moninger, Thomas E. Moninger, and Mollie (Matthew) Bergevin.
Thomas was a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren: Nicholas (Desiree) Moninger, Autumn (Christopher) Medina, Bradley Moninger, Savannah Moninger, Jasmine Moninger, and Agustus Bergevin. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Milani Medina, Scarlett Moninger, and Maxwell Moninger.
In his later years, Thomas found joy in the presence of his family, sharing stories from his time in the Air Force, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Cincinnati Bengals. He also loved a good vanilla frosty.
Thomas passed away peacefully at the VA Medical Center on April 23, 2025. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial ceremony celebrating Thomas’s life will be held on May 3, 2025, at Spring Grove Cemetery.
