Theresa M. Jenkins was the daughter of Leslie
and Beulah Edwards and born to this union were
three children. She was the mother of three children
and counting; at least three generations of
grandchildren.
Theresa is a retiree of the Hamilton County
Human Services Division of the Allen House (a
home for Orphans). For 14 years, her responsibility
was centered on pre-school age children.
She is the author of ?My Other Children? published
in 2008. She retired from the University of
Cincinnati Senior Companions in 1995. She was
an Instructional Assistant with Cincinnati Public
Schools? Washburn Elementary. Striving to make
a difference in her community, she received the
?Walk by Faith? Multicultural Award. She volunteered
her services for Cincinnati Children?s
Hospital, for Peace Making 10 years, and raising
funds for Genesis (a group of individuals working
with men who are released from prison).
She received the first place award for photography
from the City of Cincinnati City Hall.
She was a researcher of Black History. She
enjoyed Theatrical plays and Musicals.
She was a Board Member for Senior Citizens
Rights and Concerns in the Fay Apartments and
Board Member for Senior Citizens Retreat. She
traveled throughout the United States. She was a
professional Seamstress and Upholster, and a
member of West Cincinnati Presbyterian Church
for over 30 years.
She loved God, her travels, family, extended family and friends. She was a jewel, both to her
community and family!
She was preceded in death by her husband,
James Jenkins and sister, Beulah Brock.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children,
Walter Longmire, Theresa Taul and Robert
(Tonya) Longmire; brother, Leslie (Anna)
Edwards; eight grandchildren, Dionsoylo
(Yolanda) Payne, Geronta (Angelea) Taul,
Victoria (Antonio) Russell, Tysheina (Keevin)
Burton, Robert Longmire, Jr., Kristin Longmire,
Britain Longmire and Maria Greene; 26 greatgrandchildren
and four great-great-grandchildren;
and a host of other relatives and friends.
