The beloved Tanja Louise Gamble-Williams, affectionately known to family and friends as “Toni” or “Pollyanja / Polly” by her children, was born Monday August 19, 1957 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Carole Elizabeth Mattox (Georgia) and Sidney Gamble Jr. (Missouri). After 9 months of battling Neuroendocrine Cancer, Tanja entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Sunday February 16, 2025.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, Elizabeth and Gusro Thomas, and her uncle William David Thomas.
Toni was the oldest of three children and is survived by her loving sister, Yvonne, her brother, Jeffrey, her two children, Gerod and Tesha, her beloved grandchildren, Gabriel, Jeudah, and Siyon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Toni married at a young age and later divorced. From that union she was blessed with her two children Gerod and Tesha.
Toni was an illuminating essence of love that touched everyone she met and knew. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church of Cincinnati, Ohio where she also enjoyed playing catcher on the Church League Softball Team.
Toni attended Aiken High School of Cincinnati and was a graduate of their 1975 class. During high school she participated in Debutante Balls and later worked as a clerk for the Post Office. Toni studied Business Administration at CTC college where she earned her Associate’s degree. She then worked for Procter and Gamble for almost 39 years before retiring 3/31/2015. After retirement, Toni traveled the world with her dear friend Karen Roseman-Harris (Cecil), visiting several luxurious destinations like Africa, Hawaii, Paris, London and Cape Cod. She would take her yearly Hilton Head vacation, always inviting new friends and family to join. Toni was always viewed as “the hostess with the mostest”. She was a loud and proud fan of the Cincinnati Bengals traveling even traveling to London to root them on, and was also a member of the Rosie Reds.
We ask that you remember Toni, not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was fully lived.
