Watch Video TributeSylvester Kofi Sereboe Arhin, affectionately called Jacky and Sly by his loved ones, was born on November 3rd 1982, to his parents, the late attorney Mr. Francis Kofi Arhin and government contractor Mrs. Comfort Arhin in Bo, Sierra Leone. The parents are from Barekese, Ghana.
He attended Awada Preparatory Primary School and Bo Government Secondary School, in Sierra Leone. He finished his secondary education at Paint Branch High School in Silver Spring, MD after emigrating to the US.
Jacky played trumpet for the Bo School Band and was on the JV football team at Paint Branch. He attended the University of Cincinnati, Ohio and the Hondros College of Nursing in Cincinnati to obtain his nursing license, graduating at the top of his class.
He worked with special needs children and young adults to put himself through nursing school. His devotion to duty and the passion he displayed at work earned him several employee honors on many occasions. As he once put it, “I was born to be a nurse.” He basically loved his job!
He lately found his dream job at Beckett Springs. He loved those he worked with and put out his best efforts for the administration to admire his work ethic. He is sorely missed by his colleagues already.
Sylvester has three beautiful daughters with his ex-wife: Riley, Melah and Esme, who he adored. He was devoted to them. They were with him every minute of his parenting time. Anyone who knew him around town knew his kids. His daughters were his life. To know Sylvester is to know his daughters.
This devotion and love extended to his relatives and friends including his “wicked” jovial ways that earned him the Jacky nickname from his father.
Maybe the extra love he got from his parents as the last born belies his loving and caring nature. He got away with a lot more than his siblings and became a lot closer to his parents. He was his mom’s favorite, and she can’t deny it for he understood her even in his teenage years when the others were rebelling.
He was preceded in death by his Father and oldest brother Kwame Gyasi. We will always hold him in the highest place in our hearts until we meet again. Rest with the angels and say hello to Paapa and Kwame for us. We love you.
