Affectionately known as Big Momma has gone on to glory unexpectedly on January 26, 2025, she was surrounded with love by her family.
Sydney was born August 18, 1941 in Buffalo, New York.
To know Sydney and all of her health events is to truly understand that there is God, who sits high and looks low, that hears His children’s prayers, and that He is indeed a wonder-working God where at her bedside, doctors, nurses, health care staff, and I had a front row seat to witness miracle after miracle in the redemptive restoring power of God. Jesus has kept and held on close to her all the days of her life, even unto death, to show her the way to her final home with Him.
Sydney has moved unto glory, leaving her former spouse but anew, her friend of life, Stephen Perry, and their children: Stephanie Perry, Cynthia Perry Smith, and Sandra Perry. Siblings: Florence Barnett; Mildred Miles; Amy Miles; Clarence Miles (late); Mary Coleman (late); grandchildren: Juanita, Stephen (late), D’Andre (her DJ); Adreanna; great-grandchildren: Santana, Lyon, Legend, Heaven, Honesty, Messiah, Ares, Skylar, Nova, Luis, and Harmony, numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews that she loves with all her heart. Although they are former in-laws, Sydney and the Buchanan sisters—Alfreda, Margaret, and the late Sissy—shared a love that endured, and their bond remained strong.
To God be the glory, all the honor and praises. Amen and Amen.
John 11: 25-27; 40
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.”
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God?”
