Sharon Underwood, the third child of Evangelist Isabella Ackins and Minister Elmer Underwood Sr, was born on November 28, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio. At a young age, Sharon accepted Christ at New Missionary Baptist Church under the guiding hand of her grandparents Evangelist Susie Tucker, Carson & Nannie B Underwood. Growing up in Kennedy Heights, she attended Shroder Jr. High School and met a man named Richard McEntire with whom she would fall in love. They married on June 21, 1969, and out of that union came four children: Tara Renee McEntire, Richard Ernie McEntire (Cherri McEntire), Shante Etta McEntire, and Sherlisa Kelly McEntire.
Sharon was a very hard worker, and she took pride in every profession that she entered into. Some of these include her time working in the Housing Department for Hamilton County Job & Family Services or providing janitorial services for the US Playing Card Company, from which she established her own janitorial service. Her business received praise in the local ‘Around the Town’ newspaper for her outstanding service, work ethic, and sense of humor.
Sharon was loved by many. Her distinctive voice could pierce a room and bring joy to everyone in it. She had an immense love for laughter and enjoyed sharing these moments with her family and friends. She also had a strong devotion to helping those in need. Whether it was food, clothes, or a simple prayer, she would do everything in her power to help.
Sharon had a total of 8 siblings (six brothers and two sisters), three of which have preceded her in death (James Henry, Dana Underwood, and Rosetta Davis). She is survived by her brothers Elmer Underwood (Loretta Underwood), Derek Underwood (Ellen Underwood), Anthony William King, Peewee Bomar, and Ricky Bomar (Jeanette Bomar); as well as her sister, Betty Sue and (BFF) Shirley Ann Walters. Along with her beloved children and siblings, she leaves to mourn her death 16 grandchildren Tierra McEntire (Kasiya Coleman), LaMarcus McEntire, Daequan McEntire (Kyara McEntire), Damani McEntire, Taylor McEntire, Deshaun McEntire, Kimora McEntire, Mister Carmichael, Shaniya McEntire, Kaysia Wilson, Bobbi Cannon, Robert Cannon, Niyona Anitra Coleman, and Caleb Casey Hambrick, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
