Dr. Ronald Murph entered into rest of eternal joy and peace, Friday, November 11, 2011. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 10, 1942, the son of the late Russell Murph and Louise Murph-Brown.
Ronald was a native Cincinnatian. He grew up in Lin-coln Heights and attended St. Martin de Porres Catholic School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. During this time, Ronald became a proud and devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Church of Lincoln Heights, Ohio. He continued to serve Christ at St. Martin de Porres until it consolidated into the Church of the Resurrection, Bond Hill, Ohio.
He then went on to attend Roger Bacon High School for two years. Heading into his junior year, Ronald chose to attend the newly constructed Lincoln Heights High School, where he received his diploma.
After high school, he joined the US Navy and com-pleted four years of service in 1960 – 1964.
He returned to Cincinnati and began working for the Philip Carey Company and the US Post Office. While working during the day, he attended the University of Cincinnati at night. After one year, he decided to quit both jobs to attend school full-time.
He continued his education full-time at the Raymond Walters branch of the University of Cincinnati for one year. He then transferred to the main campus where he received an Associate Degree in Biology. In 1971, he applied and was accepted to Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Murph received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975. During this time, he served as President of the student body of Meharry Medical College for two years. He also served as basileus of Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He was also a member of the American Dental Association.
Upon returning to Cincinnati in 1975, he first worked with the Cincinnati Public Schools Dental Department. He worked in dental clinics of several schools. He really loved working with the children.
He later worked in several community clinics: Lincoln Heights Clinic, the Linn Street Health Clinic, and the Winton Hills Dental Clinic. He also went into private practice with Dr. Roland McGoodwin in 1980. He worked there until his retirement in 2004.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his loving and devoted wife, Margaret of 39 years; two sons, Dr. Ronald Murph (Jackie) Williams, Dayton, Ohio, and Ryan Murph, Jersey City, New Jersey, and one daughter, Rhonda Butler, Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Alexandra and Ursula, Austin, Texas, Ronald II, Joshua, and Lindsey, Jacksonville, North Carolina; two brothers, Russell (Karen) Murph, and Phillip (Patricia) Murph, Cincinnati, Ohio; six sisters, Janice (Siew-Chow) Yeung, New York, New York, Rosalind Hedges, Patricia Baker, Anita Brown, Rita Jackson, and Vanessa Brown-Little, Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Gloria Ann (Johnnie) Barnes; one brother-in-law, Robert Shelton, Cincinnati, Ohio; four caring aunts, Myrtle Floyd, Cincinnati, Ohio, Thelma Smith, Annell Leaks, and Florine Clark, Atlanta, Georgia; two uncles, Oscar Murph, Cincinnati, Ohio, and John (Mary Nell) Rosser, Greenville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as many friends.
