Robert N. Washington Jr., 73, of Belpre, Ohio, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Cincinnati, Ohio having waged a valiant battle against cancer.
Born on November 26, 1951, to Robert and Mary Washington Sr., Robert was a proud native of Belpre. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Robin Washington.
Robert was a member of Latrobe Street Church of Christ. He graduated from Belpre High School in 1969, where he enjoyed playing the drums in the marching band and was an avid baseball player. He went on to further his education at Tri-County Technical Institute and obtained a degree in Data Processing and Computer Technology. After graduating, he began his career at BorgWarner, where he entered the field of computer programming. His career path eventually led him to a new opportunity in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he relocated with his family in 1990.
A man of many passions, Robert loved bowling and once came just shy of perfection with a score of 299 in a tournament. He also enjoyed watching golf and cycling and loved riding his own bikes. At one point, he was even featured on a magazine cover. Robert also loved his dogs. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing card games and spending time with his cousins. Robert’s hobbies were many and diverse — he practiced Tai Chi, enjoyed photography, and was known for his famous chocolate chip cookies, which were often requested by family. He also had a knack for sewing, a skill he learned from his mother.
Robert will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, warm heart, and ever-present smile. To know him was to know kindness.
He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle (Charles) Washington and Yolonda Rogers; the mother of his children, Queenie Washington; five grandchildren, Ashlee (Devon) Blake, Isaiah Washington, Jayson Dailey, Samya Rogers, and Elijah Raines; three great-grandchildren, Londyn Dailey, Irie Blake, and Loryn Dailey; two sisters, Annette (Robert) Jackson of Nashville, TN, and Karen (Steve) Ware of Atlanta, GA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends including Aaliya and Aayla Edmonson who will miss him dearly.
Robert’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
