Quentin Monroe Austin, Jr. was born September 5, 1991 in Cincinnati, OH to the union of Donita Cheyene Brown and Quentin Monroe Austin, Sr. He was the oldest child of four children. Quentin transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, October 17, 2016.
Quentin accepted Christ at a very early age. He was baptized at the age of four and received a Certificate of Baptism from Quinn Chapel AME Church in 1995. He demonstrated his love for God through his many acts of kindness and generosity. He knew Jesus as his Savior and friend; and, he now rests in the loving arms of God, the Father.
Quentin was a young man who accomplished much during his short season on earth. As a student at Woodland Elementary School in Liberty Township, OH, Quentin was recognized as being musically gifted. While at Hartwell Elementary School in Cincinnati, OH, Quentin received High Honors in Mathematics, Perfect Attendance and Citizenship. His high school years where as equally illustrious. As a student at Avon High School in Avon, Indiana, Quentin received an Honorable Mention in World Languages Certificate and was Student of the Month in the Health & Physical Education Department. He graduated in 2010 with Technical Honors.
Quentin achieved Perfect Attendance and successfully completed the Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy (SEMAA) at Sinclair Community College (Dayton, OH) in 2001.
His love of becoming a First Responder and protecting American citizens propelled his desire for additional education when he pursued additional training through the Ben Davis Vocational School and Indiana Department of Homeland Security. His training included: Hazmat 1st Responder, Technical Rescue Awareness, Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II, Basic Fire Fighter and First Responder. In June, 2010 Quentin became a Certified Fire Fighter.
In 2008, Quentin served as an American Red Cross Volunteer with the Langley Fire Department (US Air Force). In 2010, Quentin received his Certificate of Enlistment with the US Air Force. He faithfully served his country through his assignments at Osan, Korea, Mildenhall, England and Eglin AF Base in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Quentin excelled during his Air Force career and was the recipient of many awards and accolades of which included: Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Air & Space Campaign Medal, Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon Short, Air Force Overseas Ribbon Long, Air Force Longevity Service and the Air Force Training Ribbon.
Quentin was preceded in death by his loving grandparents: Edward “Buzz” Sheffield, William Austin, Mary Ellen Austin, Ruben L. Bell, Sr. and Patricia JoAnn Bell; his loving great-grandparents Edward Sheffield and Sallie B. Sheffield, Edwina R. Williams, Hayward Williams, Jr.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his parents Donita Cheyene Brown, Quentin Monroe Austin, Sr., Ruben L. Bell, Jr., and James A. Brown; his loving sisters, Jessica Lauren Bell and Elaun Mackenzie Bell and loving brother, Shannon Maurice Bell; grandmother, Shirley W. Williams; loving Aunts, Davina Brown, Lisa Wimberg, Heather Sheffield, great-Aunts, Donita “Peaches” Dees, Joyce Johnson and great-Uncle, Norris “Kip” Sheffield; loving girlfriend, Sarahi Escobar and a host of other relatives and friends.
Quentin was a young man who participated in life to the fullest. His favorite colors were green, blue and purple. He loved snowboarding, art and music. Quentin was an avid runner, who ran everywhere, and he also loved to wrestle and Kung Fu. He was an avid movie enthusiast of the horror genre and he also loved cartoons. Quentin also loved to cook and eat; and was passionate about spending time with family and friends.
His smile, his laughter and his heart of gold will be greatly missed by us all!
