Osmon “Oz” Godfrey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Osmon Odell Boyd Godfrey, the beloved son of James Boyd and Leola Godfrey Howard, born on March 22, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He departed from this world on May 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Throughout his life, Osmon pursued his passion for music, playing in several bands, but finding his true home with the “Spiritual Brothers” where he dedicated over 5 years of his life. His musical talent and passion for creating harmony will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

When he wasn’t performing, Osmon enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, attending BBQs with family and friends, or simply soaking up the beauty of nature. His presence could light up a room, and his laughter was infectious.

Known to friends and family as “Oz”, he was a loving father, brother, uncle and proud grandfather. He is survived by his three children, Leialyce Freeman (Abdul), Laval Fuller (Melanie), Sharnell Thompson, step-son Marvin Johnson, sisters Elizabeth Bryant and Jean “Annie” Johnson, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy and happiness and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Boyd and Leola Godfrey Howard and sister Sheba Godfrey Davis, and step-son Larenzo Carr.

Osmon Odell Godfrey touched the lives of many with his kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. ”
