Born to Genetha Joyce Hardy & WWII Veteran, Thomas Hardy, a very hands-on father, it was a joy for Thomas to handle all responsibilities of having baby Nelson, allowing our mom Genetha to rest. As a small toddler,
Thomas often held Nelson on his arm. Nelson was very close to his sister Aalecha growing up and often played together. The passing of his father was hard. By 6th grade, Nelson had a strong interest in music! Our mom gifted him a drum set. Nelson became a very skilled drummer, in demand by his Woodward band director!
When he would practice at home, his Jazz drumming with brushes was very relaxing for hours! A music lover with a keen sense of musicianship! Our Mom’s passing was especially hard on Nelson.
But he pulled through with hard work, dedication and determination, he followed in the career path of his father and became a Chemical Equipment Operator first for Meijer Dairy, then Emery Chemical were he assumed supervisory and safety Responsibilities for the plant!
He was compensated well, developed an interest in investing, and loved to treat himself to high end culinary experiences, and developed his own cooking skills! If he loved you, he was very generous in giving financial help.
One of his greatest experiences was his vacation to Hawaii, where he took a scenic submarine ride, and a helicopter ride over Pearl Harbor he videoed for us all to see! Our mom loved Nature, the submarine ride was in her spirit. The Pearl Harbor flyover was in our WWII Veteran father’s spirit. Nelson liked his solitude, the mark of a deep thinker. And relaxed with his passion for music, a passion he shared with close friends.
While working, Nelson earned a degree in Chemical Engineering, often falling asleep at his computer from working all day. His goals were big, so he was a Master Class of sacrifice to make them happen. Nelson dreamed big! He’d only just begun! We love you forever dear brother!
