Nancy Sneed

Nancy was born April 3, 1931, to the late Rodgers Stover and Cetonia White.  This union also produced three older siblings:  Josephine S. Thomas, Frances Porter, and Pearlie Wade all who have since preceded Nancy in death.

She was married to Lecester Lowery, Sr for 22 years this union produced 4 children: Flora Jean, Mary Alice, Mary Frances, and Lecester, Jr.

Nancy spent most of her professional  career as a Supervisor in the housekeeping department at Good Samaritan where she was responsible for the manufacturing, and repair of the draperies and bed curtains for the hospital. After retirement she would become a volunteer at both Good Samaritan Hospital and the V.A. Hospital as a patient escort until 2021.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Good Hope Baptist Church, Saudis, Alabama. After her marriage to Robert Sneed, Sr in 1983, she became a member of St Stephen A.M.E Church, joined the Stewardess’ and worked tirelessly in the church and its kitchen. Several years after Robert’s death in 2005, Nancy would join New Jerusalem Baptist Church where she sang in both 8 and 11 am choirs was again active in the kitchen and because of her cakes became affectionately known as the “Cake Lady”.

Mourning her loss, yet rejoicing the fact that she is at peace are her children Flora J. Champion (Gregory), Mary A. Lowery, Lecester Lowery, Jr. (Virginia), Wayne and Holly Sneed of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mary F. Williams of Detroit, Michigan. A host a Grand, Great-Grand, and Great-Great-Grandchildren and other relatives, friends, neighbors and church families.
