Mrs. Nancy Carolyn (Lowry) Elmore was born on November 17, 1939 to the union of the late Buster Lowry, Sr. and Mary Smith (Crum) Lowry. The Lord called her home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014.
Nancy professed Jesus Christ at the age of 11, uniting at the First Antioch Baptist Church when it was located on Ninth Street downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. After moving to the O’Bryonville neighborhood, she joined Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church in 1956, while it was under the pastoralship of the late Rev. Dr. Donald E. Newberry, Sr.
Nancy attended the Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1958. She attended the University of Cincinnati and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. She also took tax courses and later processed tax returns for family and friends.
Nancy was a member of the Sunday School and was the Church Administrative Assistant at Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church. She sang with the Senior Choir and the Sanctuary Mass Choir. Nancy also sang with her sisters. She was captain over the Community Calendars and was responsible for the Outreach Program. She called individuals every Monday to pray for them. Furthermore, she retired from the Social Security Administration where she worked as a Data Technician.
Nancy met and married Val Jean Elmore on November 16, 1969. To this union, two child-
ren were born, Valerie Washington and Veronica Jones. She also had two stepsons, Tony (deceased) and Richard Elmore. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary C. Moore, Amerine Robinson and Janice C. Faulkner, and four brothers, Buster Jr., John Stanley, Patrick Henry and Elliott Hilson Lowry.
Nancy leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband, Val J. Elmore; two daughters, Veronica Jones and Valerie Washington (Jessie); one stepson, Richard Elmore; five grandchild-ren; two living sisters, Fanny L. Early and E. Lynette Ficklin (James); one brother, Robert Lowry, Sr. (Ethel); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was dearly loved and will be surely missed.
