Michael James Lane, Jr., 40, of Cincinnati, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 19, 2014.
Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, on April 26, 1973, he was the son of Michael James Lane, Sr. and Dorothea Lane. He was baptized at and became a member of Second Baptist Church. He moved to Cincinnati in 1988 and graduated from Princeton High School in 1991. He matriculated to Ashland University where he cultivated his aptitude and passion for volleyball and became a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.
In addition to volleyball, Michael was an avid football fan, specifically of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His home was always a welcome place to family and friends alike and he enjoyed cooking and entertaining, especially on holidays. He loved singing, amusement parks, and was a huge movie buff. He will be remembered most for making everyone laugh and smile with his infectious sense of humor, for being a thoughtful, caring, confidante and shoulder to lean on, for possessing unparalleled resilience, and for being fiercely family-oriented, serving on the Young Family Reunion Committee. He was a family historian and frequently shared old family photos on facebook, told amusing, heartfelt stories from childhood, and never ended a conversation with family without saying, ―I Love and Appreciate You‖.
Michael will be missed dearly by his mother, Dorothea Lane; his father, Michael James Lane, Sr.; grandmother, Sherry Smith; brothers, Alan McHenry, Jeremy McHenry, Jason Lane, Charles Green and Christopher Green; sister, Lawanda Lane; his son, Kewan; his stepmothers, Jasmine Lane and Michelle Lane; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who will love and appreciate him in perpetuity.
