Mary Heard was born on November 4, 1946, in Marion Arkansas to her loving parents, Vertie House and James Heard.
At an early age, she moved to Cincinnati Ohio, where she was then raised by her father and his wife Eunice Heard.
Mary attended Columbia Elementary School and later received her diploma from Hughes Adult High School.
On March 1, 1981, Mary accepted Christ at Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Temple, where she faithfully served and sang in the choir under the leadership of the late Bishop Paul Bowers, her faith was the cornerstone of her life and a guiding light to her family.
Mary was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed at Frisch’s and Keeners before beginning her career with General Electric, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. After retirement, she began to work part-time through Senior Services as a grandma in Cincinnati public schools. Mary had a love for nature, she loved walking in the park, feeding squirrels. She loved plants, flowers, colorful leaves, gardening, growing fresh fruits and vegetables. She loved reading spiritual books, mysteries, and love solving word and number crosswords. She was known for her famous pound cake with the fresh lemon glaze, German chocolate and sweet potato pie. Mary was a woman of skills and class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vertie and James Heard, and her four brothers Gregory, Stanley, Stevie and Raymond. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her bonus mother in love Ruby, beloved daughter, Danielle Heard, (Eric) her devoted son, Marcellus DeShonne Heard and his longtime partner (Shannon Colvin) her cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Casey, Zaire Heard, granddaughter Ishiah (Wendell Jr.) Reynolds. Two great-grandsons, Tyler and Noah, four great-granddaughters, Kendall, Hazel, Phoenix, and Shiloh. Six siblings Yalonda, Eunice, Paula, Tressie, and Eric. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Mary will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her loving and generous spirit, her dedication to her family, and the beautiful songs she lifted in praise. Her legacy of love and strength will live on through the many lives she touched.
