Mary Jane Parrish passed away at her home in Batavia, Ohio early in the morning on Wednesday, December 25th at the age of 69. It is some comfort to know that she died peacefully at her home in hospice care and that she was not alone.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Anne Huff, her sister Cheryl Brown and her sister Andrea Cannon. Mary is survived by her father Leonard Lawson, her sister Jamilla Huff, her uncle Virgil Parrish, her uncle Kenneth Reese, her aunt Victoria Williams, her aunts Margautta, Marrietta and Marthresa Resse, her step daughter Tasha Cummings, her stepson Robert Cummings Jr and her previous husband Robert Cummings Sr, as well as many other extended family members that she loved. And we have to include another fellow in that list that was also loved by Mary…her cat Cheetah. He and Mary had formed an inseparable bond – she was crazy about her little Cheetah.
Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1977 at the age of 21 and shortly after her baptism she entered into the fulltime service as a regular pioneer. She was a regular pioneer for almost 40 years. All the way up until her death she continued in the full-time service as a preacher and teacher of the Bible. And what a preacher and teacher she was! Over the course of those almost 40 years she conducted Bible studies with dozens of people and taught them the wonderful truths from God’s Word the Bible that she had come to know and love herself. Many of those dozens of Bible studies progressed to the point of dedicating their lives to Jehovah God and symbolizing that dedication by water baptism.
Mary is now asleep in death and is in Jehovah God’s memory waiting to be resurrected back to life in a new earth where she will once again be able to laugh, sing, and dance and enjoy worshiping her Heavenly Father Jehovah forever.
