Lambert (stepfather), grandparents (Joe Gains, Ida Reid), aunts, uncles and neighbors in the village. Growing up, Mareo, an only child, but surrounded by eight first cousins that filled that void until later in life his stepbrother, Marcus Lambert arrived.
Mareo’s formal education career started at Glendale Elementary. His mother (Wanda Reid-Lambert) would dress him, off he’d go, stopping by the local grocery store (Bennie Evans). It was then Mrs. Evans would allow him to pose for several minutes, complimenting him, he’d thank her and off he’d go! Mrs. Evans would force him to stand there because she thought he was handsome and polite.
Kindergarten was as important as his home guidance, direction and preached daily. Mareo graduated from Princeton High School in 1982, where he dedicated himself to learning basic core principles of furthering his education. After attending South Ohio Business College, it would catapult him into various positions where he managed businesses and was recognized for always being fair. His employment included hotel management, store management, chef, sous chef, gas station clerk, etc. His latest position was a manager at Hill-Rom for over 10 years before disability .
Mareo, never failed to perform the functions necessary to fulfill his commitments to his family and his obligations. Although Mareo was sick for quite some time, due to diabetes, that never stopped him from being an outstanding father. Mareo’s heart belongs to his three daughters, Shyanne, Cherie, Devan and his only son, Shane. Also his two grandchildren, Maliyah and Mia. His three daughters would always refer to him as a super hero because no matter how ill he was, Mareo provided for them and always came out on top.
Mareo was a single father and had no problems with working two or three jobs to make sure his girls had everything they ever wanted or needed. Mareo never saw it an issue to make a decision to either have his medication or Christmas, and Christmas always won. Throughout elementary school and high school, his girls played many sports, entered in talent shows and sang in concert choir. Mareo made sure he was in the stands and audience even if that meant him leaving work early to support his girls. He never missed a thing. He was their biggest fan and number one supporter. He did anything he could for those five smiles.
Mareo was that one person that everyone could turn to and he would help in anyway he could, no matter what the circumstances were. Everyone has their own personal relationship with him, but one thing we are certain about is Mareo would want all of us to continue to do what makes us happy and live life to the fullest. “You can not do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about it’s width and depth.”
