MALLIE PARDUE was born on August 10, 1915 in Frank-fort, Kentucky. She was the fourth of nine children born to the late Crittendon and Mattie (Minor) Walker.
In 1920, Mallie, along with her family, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. She was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System. While a student at Harriett Beecher Stowe School, she traveled extensively with the school choir.
She confessed her love for Christ and joined the York Street United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio where she served on the Nurses Guild. On April 12, 1963, Mallie united with the Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church under the late Rev. G.C. Glenn. During her time at Metropolitan, she was a member of the G.C. Glenn Club where she worked tirelessly sup-porting the financial needs of the church. Mallie later joined the First Baptist Church of Cumminsville where she served faith-fully until her health began to fail.
Mallie was a seamstress for 42 years. She made uniforms for postal employees, policemen and parachutes for the military. She also sewed soles on shoes for the infamous Dr. Scholls.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to James Pardue and to this union, one daughter, Gloria was born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pardue; five sisters, Eugenia, Betty, Ruth, Hattie and Willa; two brothers, Elmer and Luther; grandson, Ronald Appling; great-great-grand-son, Jabare’ Battle; one niece, Georgia Ford; one nephew, Paul Johnson and godson, Lewis Graham.
Mallie departed this life on October 3, 2014 and she leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Gloria (Henry) Appling; one brother-in-law, Clarence Pardue; grandson, Glenn Appling; great-granddaughter, Carla (Antione) Brown; great-grandson, James Smith; great-great-granddaughter, Lauren Nolan; great-great-great-grandchildren, Jason Smith and Amirrah Reed; goddaugh-ter, Scharleen Graham; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
