Macon Lackey, Jr. was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 27, 1935. He was the eldest of five children born to the union of Macon and Ethel Lackey.
He attended Lincoln Heights Elementary and graduated from St. dePores High School. Shortly after graduating, Macon joined the United States Army. It was in the Army that he crafted his skills of mansonry, a skill that was taught to him by his father. He built barracks and various other Army buildings. Macon received his Honor-able Discharge after a number of years of service to his country.
Macon was married to Anna Lois Brown. This union was blessed with one daughter, Leah Lackey. Macon was a loving and devoted husband and adored father. He took pride in his family and worked very hard to ensure his family was well taken care of. He was self-employed in the construction business for many years. Macon also worked for Mr. Bill Smithers Construction Company for over 20 years.
Macon’s second marriage was to Elizabeth Lackey, who preceded him in death. To this union was a son, Gregory Lackey.
At an early age, Macon confessed his life to Christ at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. He loved the Lord! As an adult, he was baptized in Jesus Name and was a member of The House of Jacob, where he was appointed a deacon. Later in life, he moved his membership to Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple.
On April 29, 2015, Macon passed from this earthly dwelling and entered into Glory in the arms of Jesus. He is preceded in death by his father, Macon Lackey, Sr.; his mother, Ethel Almond; his sister, Betty Simmons; his daughter, Leah Lackey; and his wives, Anna Lois Lackey and Elizabeth Lackey.
To know Macon Lackey, Jr. was to love him. He will forever be loved and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves his precious memories with: his wife, Decckra Lackey; his son, Gregory Lackey; his sisters, Helen Williams and Evelyn Nelson; his brother, Mervin Lackey; his brother-in-law, William Simmons; his father-in-law, David Ballard; two sister-in-laws, six grand-children, 26 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
