M.C. Mattox was born to the late Porter and Mattie Mattox, June 8, 1921 and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2012.
He attended school in Wilkes County, Georgia. He later served in the Army. He was an employee of the City of Hamilton, and retired after 27 years. After retiring, he returned to work with Allied Printing and the Hamilton School Board.
He was a member of Israel Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon on the Deacon Board. He especially loved the Lord, his church and church family. He never met a stranger and always had words of ?M.C.? wisdom. Even in his illness, his health condition did not take away from his loving spirit and sense of humor.
He leaves to mourn: his beloved and devoted wife, Maude; sons, Ralph (M.L.) Mattox of Gilroy, California, Sam (Carol) Sims of Dayton, Ohio, Melvin (Judy) Mattox of Huntsville, Alabama and Willie Shawn Mattox of Hamilton, Ohio; daughters, Mary (Freddie) Edwards of Montgomery, Alabama, Essie (William) Thornton of Dayton, Ohio, Kim (Antoine) Slaughter of Seattle, Washington and Lisa (John) Penick of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Mattie L. Hawes of Newark, New Jersey; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends.
