Lillian Stewart Candis was born on October 6, 1913, in Pensacola, Florida to William Bryant and Eniss Stewart.
Lillian was the oldest of three children and was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. On April 20, 2015, Lillian departed this life to be with the Lord and her husband of 58 years, Reese.
Lillian was united in holy matrimony to her husband on August 27, 1935. They were married for 58 years before his death in June, 1993. This union was blessed with four children, Stuart Candis (Clare), Douglas Candis (Linda), Carleton Candis (Ronda) and Robert Candis (Henrietta).
Lillian became a devoted member of Brown Chapel AME Church in the 1960’s, under Rev. Jefferson Hender-son. She volunteered at Samuel Ach School, Catherine Booth Hospital and other worthy causes.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, William Bryant and Eniss Camilla; her husband, Reese; sister, Jesse Tate; and brother, Clyde Stewart.
Cherished memories are shared by: her devoted sons, Stuart Candis of Cincinnati, OH, Douglas Candis of Atlanta, GA, Carleton Candis of Atlanta, GA and Robert Candis of Carmel, IN; 10 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
Lillian was a believer in helping others by giving back through various charities/programs. She enjoyed nature, loved animals and enjoyed learning about other cultures via National Geographic Magazine.
