Kent C. Sherman was born on September 26, 1954, and passed away on September 23, 2025. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to William and Marion Sherman. He graduated from Garfield High School. In high school he participated in sports. He remained active in sports throughout his life and enjoyed playing tennis and watching various sporting events like football, basketball and boxing. After high school he received an associate’s degree in computer science. He used these skills while working for various companies such as the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

As a youth and young adult, Kent attended Pilgrim Baptist Church (Hamilton, Ohio) and participated in many activities. He was a charismatic person, with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed laughing and socializing with friends and family.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Wendell, and infant granddaughter Ashley. He is survived by his daughter Shawan Barnett, granddaughters Shayla Sherman, Marquilla Barnett, grandsons Julian Barnett, DeAndre Barnett and Absolom Ruff, great grandson Kadon Sherman, sisters Jacquelyn Sherman, Angela Shepherd, and Robin Lasley, brothers Randall Sherman, Terrence Sherman, William Sherman II and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

My sincere condolences to the Sherman family. I grew up with Kent and Randy. I will miss his conversations and his since of humor...God bless you all!

Shawan and Family, please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences to you on cousin Kent’s transition Home. I found out yesterday and attended the live stream. Just as Skill eloquently shared, Kent was a myriad of Gifts and talents that we were blessed to receive and be around. He sparked our interest in learning tennis (how to think strategically), mirrored the importance of family, God, and community. Kent and mommy taught me how to effectively communicate and solve problems by looking at it from all angles to get to its origin(s), and work from there on the best possible, and sometimes creative, outcome(s). Crosswords are still my go to, Kent! Thank you, cousin for a lifetime of lessons, love, support, laughter, and memories that are embedded in our hearts and shows through our lives. Rest in love and power. I love you.

I will always remember his sly smile that was so similar to his brother’s Randall. He always had quick things that was always so funny.
