Kenneth Cooper was born and raised in Lincoln Heights, where he grew up surrounded by family and community. He was the baby brother of six siblings and developed strong bonds with those he loved from an early age. Kenneth was the father of two sons, Kenneth Jr. and Kenneth, with whom his relationships varied over the course of his life.
Kenneth was preceded in death by four of his siblings: Claud Chambers, Melvin Cooper, Catherine Cooper, and Lillian Cooper, as well as his beloved mother Thelma Cooper, to whom he was deeply devoted and fiercely protective. He is also reunited with his niece, Cathy Cooper.
He is survived by his youngest sister, Judy Cooper Scott, and her husband, William, who continue to honor his memory.
Kenneth was known for his big heart and lively sense of humor. He loved making people laugh and was often jokingly called “crazy,” a term that reflected his playful spirit rather than anything else. His intentions were always good, and his kindness left a lasting impression on those around him. Kenneth was especially protective of his mother and siblings, and in his mother’s eyes, he could do no wrong.
Later in life, Kenneth was diagnosed with COPD and was placed in a nursing facility. He passed away without recognition of his family, who were tragically unaware of his death until months later. Although Kenneth’s final wish was to be laid to rest with a proper funeral, circumstances beyond the family’s control resulted in his cremation, contrary to his wishes.
Kenneth is now at peace, reunited with his mother and siblings, free from suffering. He will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, and the love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
