Joseph passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Mercy Fairfield Hospital under the care of Queen City Hospice with his daughter’s Ronda and Tonenetta and granddaughter Darnesha by his side. He was born April 11, 1937 in Lebanon, Kentucky, to the late Joseph and Dorothy (O’Daniel) Young, Sr.
Joseph was an Operator at General Motors in Norwood and retired after more than 30 years. He was then free to work out his life dream as a big rig truck driver. He was a lover of music with a passion for the bass guitar. If you knew Joe, you knew he had a saying for every occasion. One of his favorites. If you asked him how he was doing? He would respond, “fine as frog hair and I ain’t never met a frog with hair.” He would burst into laughter every time. In September 2020, he went to live at Mt. Healthy Christian Village to assist in the care with his failing health. He was a devout Catholic who prayed for his family daily and he loved Christ.
He was preceded in death by his companion of more than 27 years, Darlene Gordon Reese and brother Charles Young. He is survived by brother Richard Young, brother Harry (Dora) Young, daughter Ronda (Reggie) Acklin and daughter Tonenetta Bowden. He leaves to cherish his memory Trayvon North, Erica and Lacey Blanchard, Tevin Gordon, Raymond (Ray Ray) Kelow along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
