John Alfred Foster III was born on September 6, 1959, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to John Alfred Foster Jr. and Mattie Louise Foster at Elder Hospital. He was the fourth child born to them. He started his education in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When the family came to Cincinnati, he then continued his education in the Cincinnati Public School System attending Sawyer Junior High, and Withrow High School. He worked for the City of Cincinnati performing rehab work on many housing projects. He also worked for AES Steel Company, working sometimes fifteen-hour days. He worked for Children’s Hospital for many years as a night custodian. Xavier University also found a spot on his resume as a private black tie event Coordinator. He also worked for Shady Mist Apartments as a Maintenance Technician for several years. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, chess, horseshoes, card games, and dominoes. He loved watching the fireworks as a yearly family tradition. He loved picnics and family BBQ’s where he would be the master griller with a cold beer. His family meant everything thing to him-family, food, and fun.
Those who preceded him in death included: Father, John Alfred Foster II., Mother, Mattie Louise Foster; grandparents: Riley and Alice Taylor; sister, Gwendolyn J. Montgomery; daughter, Lynetta L. Foster; Aunt, Jennie Mae Dunnigan, Uncle (Buddy) Lee Lewis Taylor, and Uncle Charles Foster.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful wife, Michelle Y. Foster of 40 years; daughters: Candace Woodbury (Stephon); Son, John A. Foster IV (Dominique). His four sisters: Charlotte Foster Blackmon, Patricia Foster, Rhonda J. Foster, and Yevola Green. Grandchildren: Trinity Foster and Aaliyah Taylor and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Special friends: Donny Hare, and Whimp-who were lifelong friends and more like brothers helping each other through life’s good and bad times. No matter the time of day he could always count on his brothers to be by his side.
