On February 8, 2015, Joe Ann (Taylor) Wilson-Wilhite, age 72, after her long battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), was called from her home where God had arranged a guardian angel to come and close her eyes for the last time. Joe Ann was born on June 10, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio; she was the daughter of the late James Edward Taylor and Mary Barthenia Tompkins (Langford).
Joe Ann thoroughly enjoyed sewing, crocheting, keeping up with her family trees, traveling and shopping. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sisters deeply. She always hated to see the little ones leave. Joe Ann graduated from Bate High School, and attended Lafayette Vocational Technical College in Danville, Kentucky. She also attended Campbell College and Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Joe Ann worked 7 years for the City of Cincinnati Police Department, 2 years for the United States Playing Card Company, 3 years for H & R Block, and 30+ years for Ohio Job and Family Services where she retired. Joe Ann gave her life to Christ at the young age of 11 years old while living in Danville, at First Baptist Church. After she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio she continued to be a devoted servant of Christ through membership at Zion Hope Baptist Church and later joining Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member for 26 years. She belonged to Wednesday Evening Bible Study Class and The General Missionary where she served some time as Treasurer, Fellowship Circle, Gail Hayes Crochet Club, and Clinton Bean Senior Piano Class, while in good health.
Joe Ann is survived by: her husband of 10 years, Thomas C. Wilhite; daughters, Thomasa J. Williams and Harolynn R. Dorcas (Charles) of Cincinnati, OH and son, Freddie J. Wilson (Roma) of San Diego, CA; goddaughters, Carol Crawford and Carol Gordon; 7 grandchildren, 1 god-grand- daughter and 7 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Linda S. Bowman
(Rev. Barry Bowman), Georgia E. Tompkins, A. Roberta Warren (William), all of Danville and Mildred E. Graham (Derrick) and Mary L. Fields, all of Frankfort, KY; 1 step- brother, James R. Tompkins (Ophelene) of Detroit, MI; best friend, Ada Colvard; and a host of nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews, step-children and a number of other relatives and close friends.
