Jeremiah Cook entered into eternal peace on Sunday, May 10, 2015. One of eleven children born to the late Sarah and Rev. George Cook, Sr., Jeremiah Cook was born September 4, 1935 in Sardis, Alabama. He was baptized at Mt. Nebo AME Church in Sardis, Alabama. Upon moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, he united with Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late A.L. Goodwin from November 1960 – November 4, 1973. He then united with his family at Tryed Stone Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Anderson Culbreath. Jeremiah remained with Tryed Stone, now known as Tryed Stone New Beginnings Church under the leadership of Jerry L. Culbreth until his death. He was a faithful member of the Deacon Board, Male Chorus, Missionary/Repast Team, as well as co-leader of the Communion and Baptismal Team.
Jeremiah’s professional life began early with his completion of Upholstery and Refinishing trade school as a Master Refinisher and Upholsterer. He was employed at Sun Furniture, Pat and Joe Furniture Company and McAlpin’s before retiring. In addition, he owned Father and Son Refinishing and Upholstery. Jeremiah was active in various community organizations such as the Firtree Court Neighborhood Block Club. He was also a founding member of the United Christian Brotherhood Male Chorus. An avid fisherman, he loved going out on the water with his friends and family. He also enjoyed traveling and hunting.
