James E. Oden, Sr. was born on the 12th day of October, 1939 to the parents of Wallace and Ruth Oden, in Flat Creek, AL. James departed this life peacefully on the 9th day of November, 2011 at The Laurels of Mt. Vernon, OH.
James retired from Frisch?s Big Boy due to illness. He was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church in Covington, Kentucky. He enjoyed sports. He was a soft-ball coach for the Sue Bees which he took great pride in. Another one of his enjoyments was bowling. He was in several bowling leagues over the years until his illness.
James was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Oden, Jr.; sister, Willie Jean Sleet; brother, Alfred Oden; and stepson, Orval Luke III.
James leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Claudette Luke Oden; mother, Ruth Oden; two sons, James (Michelle) Oden, Jr. of Newark, OH and Alfred (Shirley) Oden of Mansfield, OH; two brothers, Clarence Oden of Rock-ford, IL and Van Oden of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Mona Oden and Irene Oden Rice, both of Covington, KY; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
